These are two vinyl 1:1 kits of the ALIEN Facehugger and Chestburster I bought off of ebay, neither of which had a manufactureā€™s name, so I assume they're copies, these were sold out of Thailand. I had never worked in vinyl before, so it was a whole new experience in using a heat gun to form and position parts, gluing all together with Super Glue. Both were painted with translucent acrylic paints, and in the case of the Facehugger, coated in a clear gloss glaze. The Chestburster was coated with faux glass paint,¯ using mostly red, and some yellow to simulate fat. The bodies were sculpted in foam, painted flesh tone and covered with shirts, where I also made the threaded neckline for the shirt on the left. I made the ship's patches from images I found on the Internet and using a transfer medium, I added them to a fabric backing, and then glued them to the shirts with Fabric-Tac. The Styrofoam heads were bought at Hobby Lobby and painted, adding Halloween wigs I bought at Walmart. I also added trimmed false eyelashes I got from the dollar store. The headrests are made from a single plastic kitchen stepping stand that I cut at an angle, using the bottom part on the left and the balance on the right. I added knobs on the base, which were caps from single serving bottles of chocolate milk. The laser cutter was made from a handgrip to a drill, where I added battery operated Christmas LED lights, with the tip from the end of a coax cable. The end of it has another bottle top. The display hangs on my hobby room wall. Image: Chestburster Image: Facehugger |
