FineMolds Slave One

By Paul LaRue

Ever since  the first time I saw  The Empire Strikes Back a long time ago in a theatre far, far away, I have been in love with Boba Fett's ship.   The originality of the design is unlike anything else to come out of the Star Wars universe, and I've alway wanted  to own a  replica of it.

Here is  my attempt at a FineMolds ESB Slave One that I recently finished.  This model was a complete joy to put together.   Everything went together easily, and I only had to use a minimum of putty for filling the seam down the center of the fuselage.   The most complex part of the  build was the paint job.   And like the saying goes...'slow and easy wins the race'.  Trying to replicate the multiple layers of the  different colored scrapes and scuffs of the ILM studio model  was a somewhat daunting task to say the least. I used the layered approach to painting  and FasMask Liquid  Mask to  create the damage of each layer.  Various chalk pastels were also used to  further weather the ship.

Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out as it makes a pretty nice display piece next to my computer desk.
