This is a build of Bruno Vanhecke's 1/300 cardmodel of the Boeing 747SP used for the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, or SOFIA. It is a collaboration between NASA and the German Aerospace Center, of DLR. The model is fairly straightforward. I built it with 160 gsm cardstock, and added raised detail to the area near the observatory opening. Were I to build the model again, I might scale it up to 1/288th and open up the observatory compartment. |
