Quest Dragonfly Jet

By Doug George

Several years ago one of my friends interviewed an animator for the old Jonny Quest show. Knowing I like to build, he asked me for a prop to take with him. I immediately went to my model closet and pulled out two Lindberg models, the F-11F Tiger and the F4D-1 Skyray. I also located an old Revell Snark and the decals from the Lindberg Star Probe. I cut up some plasticard for the canards, assembled the F 11F Tiger wings normally (elevators work!) and used the tops of both the Skyray's wings to form the tail. I then applied bondo and sanded, primed, and painted with rattlecan gloss white. It was a fast and easy weekend build, and a lot cheaper than the then available resin kits.
