Sci-Fi Collection

By Steve Williams

The first model is of Thunderbird 4 which I have scratch built. It measures 19" by 8". The main body was formed using balsa wood then covered with a mix of p38 and p40 to create the overall shape. The canopy I have vac formed myself and the detail inside the cab has been scratch built using plastic card and kit parts. The figures inside the cab are also scratch built.

The second model is of my all new super-detailed Star Bug. It measures 26" by 22". Again I have used p38 and p40 to form the shapes; the legs are made out of aluminium tubing and the engine bells have been formed to shape using fibreglass. All the detailing at the rear has been done using plastic card and spare kit parts. As with the last Star Bug I sent in I have fully lit the cab with LEDs. The engine bells and headlamps are also lit with LEDs. The inside of the cab ahs been done using plastic card and kit parts. It also has all scratchbuilt crew members inside.

The last model is the Blue Midget Mk1. Again this has been scratch built using p38 and p40, and measures 19" by 5". It too has been lit using LEDs in the cab, the engine bells and the headlamps. The cab has been formed using plastic card and kit parts and inside the cab are scratchbuilt figures of Cat and Lister. The engine details on the side are made using plastic card and kit parts.

I have included a picture of Chris Barry and Danny John Jules with my son holding my scratchbuilt Star Bug. This was taken at the National Space Centre.
