Martian Heavy Tank Herbert George

By Nigel Rostance

This latest model was cobbled together from whatever was not secured down! It was basically made out of three major components; a retired Dorvack mech, a Sherman tank base, and the housing of a dead Dremel. All other bits and pieces were scrounged from the many parts boxes (as well as the inclusion of the traditional KinderEgg; I don't know why I started that...)

The only "built" parts are the side panels. Everything else is very basic and routine model construction techniques. I envisioned a tank not built from any iron-based metals, so no rust this time. I figured since it was going to be on Mars anyway, there would be enough rusts and burnt sienna for the weathering! I used basic military green for the base colour, and dry brushing on steels and metallics for wear. The only purchased parts are the Tamiya figures, which were modified for the environment, but based on the recent film "Iron Sky".

the base was made from scenery material (gravels and sand) with lava rock, then dusted with various shades of pastels. The tank was also heavily dusted with the same materials.

No back story for the model, but the name should be recognizable to all.
