Corellian Starship

By John Kluge

Here are pics of my completed Corellian model from Randy Cooper.   I purchased this model a few years ago from Randy Cooper Models. This ship is the first design concept for the Millennium Falcon.   From the stories that I have heard, this ship did not look "Han Solo" enough so they scrapped the design and went with the disk model that we all know and love.   Just because they scrapped it for Han however does not mean that they got rid of it.   Take the cockpit off and place it across the bow like a hammerhead shark and you get the  beginnings of the blockade runner.

This is my first solid resin model and there was a lot  more hacking then there was sanding.    The one drawback is that there was no cockpit window(s)   I tried just about everything I could under the sun but could not get perfection so I went without the windows and hope that the driver can hold his breath a long time.   The turrets and the  communications dish are held in with magnets.   The Hull is a light gray and then I went with two coats of Insignia Yellow.   I like yellow ships and do not see enough of them these days except Anakin's fighter  in Episode 3.   The finished product looks nice but it is heavy.   It suffered a fall from a high shelf and shattered off the engines as well as the  cockpit but thank goodness for crazy glue.   Just something to think about when you mount it.
