Shadow Ship

By David Windham

This is Warp's Shadow Ship model. Overall, not a bad kit. It is made with that nasty resin that is very brittle and shatters like glass. Not really ideal for all the spines poking out but as I managed to move it from Texas to California without it exploding.

Pretty straight forward construction. Their attempts to add the vein detail consisted of sprinkling everything with a coarse glitter to create a texture. I decided to take it further. I didn't go so far as to sand off the original texture but decided to add my own veins.

Once assembled I painted it flat black. Then I used Tulip Black Metallic Fabric paint and drew a vein pattern over everything. For those that don't know, the fabric paint I'm referring to is a 3D paint that keeps it's shape (for the most part) when it dries. I had to use a finer custom tip to get the thin lines. Once it all dried, the veins had sunk and spread a bit but I was still happy with the results.
