Fleet Supply Vessel Marat

This is the Fleet Supply Vessel Marat. It was used in the re-supply of the Earth Forces 12th Fleet while conducting assault operations in the liberation of Mars in 2327. The vessel was powered by twin fusion engines and is capable of light speed. Though usually carrying supplies it was also used to carry troops and medical evacs.

Being an avid Sci-Fi modeler I have often tired of the same old stuff offered on the market and wanted to be creative. I originally started this ship in 96. I picked up the bridge section at a 99-cent store. It is a plastic salad bowl cut in half and glued together. The cargo pods that line the sides came with the salad bowls for dip. The long neck that holds the cargo pods is from a pair of printer ribbons glued together and cut to size. The upper and lower wing sections are made from old 51/4 floppy disk dividers cut to shape with "Plastruct" corrugated shape inserts. The two engines are scratchbuilt from styrene. There are about 100 assorted parts used for details from tanks, "Skywave" 1/700 scale ship detail parts, and aircraft.

The ship was painted with "Testors" enamels. The base color is Dark Blue lightened with a touch of white. The scorpion logo was stenciled on with an airbrush using Guards Red. The various panels were painted with Dk. Forest Green and clear decal film painted with acrylic Dk Sea Blue and Brown. I heavily weathered the ship using an airbrush for the panel feathering effect and an oil wash.
