Sail Barge

By Antonio Roberto Campos Filho

This 90-centimeter-long Sail Barge model was entirely scatchbuilt from styrene. I made the internal structure of the model using a 3-millimeter-thick plastic sheet, which was then overlaid with a 0.50-millimeter-thick plastic sheet. All external sheets were designed, cut out and glued onto the structure one by one. To make the "sails" I used aero-modelling overlaying plastic, whose texture is similar to that of fabric but it will not unravel. The "Sails" framework was made using EVERGREEN strips and painted so as to look like wood. I spent 360 hours on this model.
