Ice Speeder

By Art Cunningham

[Right Oblique]

[Rear]

The Ice Speeder was designed as if it would be used on planets consisting of a lot of surface ice.

The model is built to a scale of 1/32. It was made from a Japanese kit that I modified extensively. The engines on the sides came from another Japanese kit. I added a lot of detail from sheet styrene, misc. kit parts, brass tubing, Lite Brite tips, and other items. The figure was made from a 1/32 scale military figure (Tamiya). I sculpted a new head from 2 part epoxy, and changed the pose. The face shield, wind screen, and engine fronts were made from theatrical gels for movie lights. The antenna was made from stretched sprue.

I painted the model with Poly S paints. The details were painted by hand with Testors, and Floquil paints. I weathered the model slightly using pastel chalks and Poly S paints.
